ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Each piece displayed in this portfolio is an original, hand-pulled print created by Liz Ortiz of Mad Hare Press LLC.
Printmaking is a traditional, time-honored art form that requires significant skill, patience, and dedication.
Every image begins as a hand drawn design transformed into a carved block, etched by hand with fine tools, then individually inked and pressed by hand, making every print unique. Variations in ink texture, paper quality, and plate impression are a natural and celebrated part of the creative process.

PRINTS ROOTED IN HERITAGE
Each print at Mad Hare Press begins with a hand-carved linoleum or Tetra Pak plate, transforming into a work of art that reflects natural rhythms, personal stories, and cultural symbolism. Inspired by the gestural lines found in nature and folk iconography like calaveras and florals, Liz’s work is bold yet delicate, meditative yet expressive.
TECHNIQUES & MATERIALS
Mad Hare Press prints are produced using archival-quality paper, oil-based inks, water-based, alcohol-based inks and traditional tools. While many works are monochromatic, Liz also creates multi-block and mixed-media prints that incorporate watercolor, fibers, or layered textures. Each piece is pulled by hand, ensuring a unique impression every time.
